D-Day: Primarily Omaha Beach

One hundred and sixty-thousand troops landed within 24 hours on a 50-mile stretch along France's Normandy coast, on five beaches:
  • Gold
  • Juno
  • Omaha
  • Sword
  • Utah
Of these, it is said that the defeat of Nazi Germany was sealed on Omaha, where Operation Overlord planners had decided to land the majority of U.S. troops and supplies.
