Lunch & Learn: "Dwight D. Eisenhower and the U.S. Census Bureau"

Thursday, June 27, 2019

Learn about the U.S. Census Bureau information then and now. Mary Burtzloff will trace the Eisenhower family in historical census records. Burtzloff joined the Eisenhower Presidential Library in 2009 and has been with the National Archives and Records Administration for more than 20 years. U.S. Census Bureau Partnership Specialists Steve Hale and Carlos Urquilla-Diaz will discuss preparing Kansas communities for a successful 2020 census count. The pair work with local communities to educate Kansans about the importance of being counted in the 2020 census. Hale is a lifelong Kansan with a journalism degree from Kansas State University. A U.S. Army veteran, Urquilla-Diaz received his J.D. from the University of Kansas and is pursuing his Ph.D. from the University of Tennessee. This program is free and open to the public courtesy of the Jeffcoat Memorial Foundation and the Friends of the Eisenhower Foundation. A light lunch will be provided on a first come, first served basis.
