Ike Book TALK: "When the Elephants Dance" by Tess Uriza Holthe
Tuesday, September 10, 2019
"Papa explains war like this: 'When the elephants dance, the chickens must be careful.'" In her first novel, Tess Uriza Holthe captures the spirit of the Filipino people in the waning days of World War II, as the Japanese and the Americans engage in a fierce battle for possession of the Philippine Islands. Thomas Prasch will lead the discussion.
The 2019 Ike Book TALK series is marking the 75th anniversary of D-Day by exploring some of the lesser known stories of World War II. Talk About Literature in Kansas (TALK) is presented by Humanities Kansas in partnership with the Dwight D. Eisenhower Presidential Library and the Abilene Public Library. The TALK program is for every Kansan who loves to read and discuss good books. Books in the series can be checked out of the Abilene Public Library and are also available for purchase at the Eisenhower Presidential Library gift shop.
