Movie: "The Biggest Little Farm" [2018] - Arts Council of Dickinson County Winter Film Festival

Sunday, February 9, 2020

"The Biggest Little Farm" symbolizes what so many people daydream of doing: ditching city living, a monotonous desk job and commuter headaches for a back-to-basics lifestyle. John and Molly Chester are living that dream: They left behind their day jobs in L.A. — as a docu-series director and a personal chef — and turned a former horse ranch into a self-sustaining, biodynamic farm on 200 acres outside of Los Angeles. The film chronicles eight years of daunting work planting an orchard, a variety of crops and introducing several different animals, including cattle, sheep, chickens, ducks and dogs, and bees from rescued hives. The celebrities, though, are Greasy the Rooster and Emma, the 700-pound star swine of this heartwarming documentary. This series is sponsored by the Arts Council of Dickinson County in partnership with the Eisenhower Presidential Library. All films are free and open to the public. The Arts Council will accept toiletry items for the Abilene Area Food Pantry.
