#GivingTuesday – December 1, 2020

President Eisenhower said, “My faith in them [America’s youth] is my unbounded faith in America itself.” #GivingTuesday is a celebration of America’s greatest traditions: generosity, entrepreneurialism, community. Everyone has something to give. You can give time or expertise, monetary donations large or small, simple acts of kindness, food or clothing. The Eisenhower Foundation is participating in this global movement to benefit our IKEducation Virtual Classroom and has set an ambitious $10,000 goal. By supporting this initiative, you will help us connect Ike’s legacy to future generations for another 75 years.

We will update this webpage as we make progress towards our goal.

UPDATE 12/2/20: We are pleased to announce that we have met our goal of raising $10,000 for the IKEducation Virtual Classroom! This is the first time in our #GivingTuesday history that we have met our goal this fast and for that, we are grateful. Our donors from across the country consistently show how much they like Ike and that they believe in our mission.

IKEducation Virtual Classroom

Since thousands of K-12 students cannot currently visit the Eisenhower Presidential Library and Museum in-person, we are bringing Dwight D. Eisenhower’s rich history to them via the IKEducation Virtual Classroom. The website is a learning community that challenges and engages students and helps teachers design their own curriculum using our extensive resources, including original primary sources from the Eisenhower Presidential Library and the Eisenhower Foundation’s teaching collection.

Phase 1 of this project was completed with the launch of the Eisenhower Foundation’s brand new website in June. We recently started Phase 2 of this project, building a primary source library that includes archival documents, historic photos, and 3-D imaging of artifacts for teachers to utilize in curriculum development and for students to use for research.

Once complete, the IKEducation Virtual Classroom will offer an interactive timeline of the Eisenhower Era, digital field trips led by professional educators, historical narratives of pivotal events in Eisenhower’s lifetime, and free access to more than 40 downloadable STEAM curricula.

Using our platform, students and teachers can work together to immerse themselves in lessons that teach history, but also are applicable to today’s current events.
