BIOGRAPHY

Nancy graduated High School in 1941 and enter the University of Michigan College. From there she entered WAVES. At boot camp her testing showed high marks in teaching and being mechanical. She placed teaching fighter pilots areal gunnery. After the war she used th GI bill to finish her college education.

BIOGRAPHY

My father served with the 540th Engineer Combat Regiment, H&S Co in the motor pool. He took part in the Italian Campaign Naples/Salerno/Anzio and was injured by a mortar shell during the breakout to Rome on May 24, 1944. He returned to service and took part in the invasion of Southern France and fought through the Rhone Valley, the Alsace/Ardennes Campaign, crossed the Rhine into Germany, and remained in occupied Germany until November 1945. BIOGRAPHY

George Poole served with Co. A, 7th Armored Infantry Battalion, and as acting platoon sergeant of the Anti-tank 47th Regiment of the 9th Division. During his military service, he saw action in campaigns at Normandy, Northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe, including the Battle of the Bulge. He received the European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with five Bronze Stars, Purple Heart and Good Conduct Medal.

BIOGRAPHY

Pascal Cleatus Poolaw, Sr., the most decorated Native American soldier in U.S. history - 4 Silver Stars, 5 Bronze Stars 3 Purple Hearts. He earned a total of 42 medals and citations. Born on January 29, 1922, in Apache, Oklahoma, Poolaw, a full-blooded Kiowa, served with the United States Army in World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. Poolaw, his father and two brothers joined the Armed forces in 1942 during World War II. He earned his first Purple Heart when he was wounded in September 1944. While serving with the 8th Infantry Regiment's M Company near Recogne, Belgium, Poolaw's unit was engaging fire with the Germans. He pushed his unit forward under heavy fire and hurled hand grenades at enemy machine guns, causing numerous enemy casualties and as a result of his heroic actions, many of his comrades lives were saved and the company was able to continue the attack and capture strongly defended enemy positions. Poolaw went on to serve in the Korean and Vietnam wat. He was killed in action on a search and destroy mission near Loc Ninh, Vietnam Courtesy of fallenbutnotforgotten

BIOGRAPHY

3PO Posey trained at TRG COM. And USD TADC in Willamsburg, Virginia. He was stationed in Brooklyn, NY, before being sent to Navy ATA in Seattle, WA. He was then assigned to the USS Gosper until he was discharged. When drafted he was married with two children and a 3rd born in August 1944. Mr. Posey was a cook on board the USS Gosper.
